Congratulations to all 2017 Microbial Genomics Prize winners!

Congratulations to all those who won a Microbial Genomics Prize in 2017!

Prizes are judged and awarded to the best poster or oral presentation in its category by members of the journal’s Editorial Board at select conferences throughout the year. Winners receive a cash prize, a certificate and a year’s free membership to the Microbiology Society.

2017 Prize winners include:

Leah Roberts, ‘Outbreak of carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB) in a Brisbane Intensive Care Unit’ at the Conference on Applied Bioinformatics and Public Health Microbiology.

Wei Ding, ‘panX: an interactive tool to construct and explore bacterial pan-genomes’ at the Conference on Applied Bioinformatics and Public Health Microbiology.

Nelly Sélem Mojica, ‘CORASON: CORe Analysis of Syntenic Orthologs to Prioritize Natural Products Biosynthetic Gene Glusters’ at the 18th International Symposium on the Biology of Actinomycetes.

Despoina Kalfakakou, ‘CanVaS: A database of Greek cancer patient genetic variation’ at the 10th conference of Hellenic Bioinformatics.

Richard Fetherston, ‘Comparative and functional genomics of methylated sulfur compound metabolism in bacteria’ at the Molecular and Microbial Ecology Group meeting (MMEG 2017).

A Microbial Genomics poster prize will also be awarded at the Microbiology Society’s Annual Conference in 2018.
