Microbial Genomics - Submit an article
All submissions made to Microbial Genomics should be made via the relevant submission template. Submission templates detail the relevant mandatory and optional sections and headings the article should include, and covers basic guidance on formatting reference lists and preparing figures and tables.
All submissions should be accompanied by a cover letter summarising your reasons for submitting the article to Microbial Genomics and how it meets the Aims and Scope of the journal.
The article with accompanying cover letter should be uploaded through our online submission site Editorial Manager. Submissions are not accepted in hard copy or by email. Please note that Microbial Genomics operates a double-blind peer review policy. Please remember to remove all names and institutions from any submitted material (including cover letter, data summary, any external data etc.)
Please review the journal scope and the Information for Authors page for further guidance. Please note Microbial Genomics is a mandatory open data journal and as such authors are required to provide access to all supporting data including protocols and software and/or programmes. Please review the journal's open data policy before submitting your article.

✔ Read the Aims and Scope, article and subject category descriptions and ensure your paper complies with this before submission
✔ Submit your article using the relevant submission template, completing all required sections, and accompanied by a cover letter
✔ Ensure all authors agree to the submission and agree that the corresponding author may act on their behalf throughout the review and publication process
✔ Provide access to any supplementary material and/or supporting data associated with the article hosted in external depositories (via accession number and/or DOI), and/or upload as a supplementary file(s) with the article
✔ Obtain permission for any citations of personal communications or unpublished results; this should be confirmed in a covering message
✔ Use continuous line numbering throughout the manuscript, to facilitate online reviewing
✔ Ensure that citations of references in the text and references list conform to journal style
✔ Upload any cited papers that have been accepted for publication but are not yet published as a supplementary file(s)
✔ Indicate if you are funded by RCUK, the Wellcome Trust or other and require your paper to be published under the CC-BY creative commons licence, rather than the journal default licence CC-BY-NC
✔ Indicate the subject category for the paper through the online submission form in Editorial Manager
✔ Provide 3-5 keywords for the paper through the online submission form in Editorial Manager
✔ Obtain the names and contact details of up to three potential reviewers (optional)
✔ Ensure that all author names, affiliations and acknowledgements are removed from all material submitted, including the author comments section, in line with the journal’s double blind peer review policy
